Romance as the main genre is a little bit difficult for me. It hasn’t been a genre that I seek out. I am literally just listing the five romance novels that I have happened to read and liked. It’s not that I am avoiding the Romance genre. The thing about a book that usually catches my attention first is the cover. Romance covers are either dull or ridiculous. Good old Fabio Lanzoni has never tempted me to read a novella.
And the popular ones are always made into movies. Romeo and Juliet, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Jane Eyre was much easier to watch than to read. Especially Jane Eyre. Loved the movie, could not get through the book. I did not like Wuthering heights at all. Neither book or it’s adaptions. And although I liked Tiffany Reisz’s The Siren, I don’t know if it counts as a romance.
- A Most Lamentable Comedy – Janet Mullany
- Pride and Prejudice – Jane Austen
- Emma – Jane Austen
- Sense and Sensibility – Jane Austen
- The Haunting of Maddy Clare – Simone St. James
One of my reading resolutions was to vary my genres. Well, I now have a proper Mills & Boon on my TBR list. I got it for free with a magazine. I am curious to see how The Magnate’s Tempestuous Marriage goes. Other Romances on my to TBR list includes: Persuasion, Water for Elephants, The Sumage Solution, Shiver and Outlander.
What are some of your favourite romances? Let my know if there is one you think I would like.
